Orloff

Our farm focuses on breeding Spangled Russian Orloff Chickens

I shouldn’t have said that—don’t get me wrong, we love all our babies for their looks, eggs, and temperament. But this breed? This breed is our favorite.

Despite their true Russian royalty appearance, you’ll fall in love with their temperament. They are easy to work with, tame, and even the roosters are a pleasure to handle. They behave as though they are above all the backyard drama, watching with a wise “oh well, stuff happens” attitude.

They adore their owners and are always the first to come running to greet you. On top of that, here in New Jersey, where winters can get pretty cold, instead of waiting for warm water, they jump right in and eat snow—as if they understand that snow is just frozen water!

This breed is definitely one we’d recommend for your homestead flock.
